Katie and Phillip’s summer Michigan wedding at The Collins Off Main in Chelsea, Michigan was the perfect blend of joyful celebration and heartfelt intention. Surrounded by their closest family and lifelong friends their August wedding felt like a modern, elevated backyard gathering — full of warmth, connection, and deeply personal touches that made every guest feel part of the story.

As a Michigan wedding photographer, I’m always drawn to celebrations that reflect the couple’s heart — and this day was overflowing with love. From the emotional vows to the laughter-filled reception, every moment felt meaningful. The couple had been together since high school, so the day was a celebration everyone had been waiting on.

One of the most special details? The florals were lovingly created by Phillip’s mom, a Michigan wedding florist. From bouquets to centerpieces, each arrangement was made by her team — a beautiful reflection of the legacy and care woven throughout their day. It was a true family effort that made their Michigan wedding even more unique and memorable.

Michigan Wedding Reception

The reception at The Collins Off Main wedding venue in Chelsea, MI was both fun and inviting. With a seamless indoor/outdoor setup, guests could play cornhole and giant chess outside or relax by the bonfires under the stars. Their wedding favors — s’mores kits for roasting — created the perfect cozy touch and encouraged everyone to gather and connect. It was the kind of evening that felt like a warm summer dinner party — joyful, relaxed, and full of love.

There were happy tears, laughter, and so many meaningful glances exchanged between the couple and their people. It was the kind of intimate and emotional wedding day I feel so grateful to capture. During the toasts, the Bride’s parents had each of their family and family-friend’s stand up as a “these are your people” type of moment. It was amazing to see over half the entire room standing.

What made it even more special? Katie and Phillip are dear family friends of my own, which made documenting their story such an honor. Their day was a reminder of why I do what I do — preserving the love, legacy, and connection that live in these once-in-a-lifetime moments.
